Back to my WORK

THE Ella McCready Trio - I Just…

Ian is the pianist in the Ella McCready Trio, and we are delighted to launch our debut album I Just…

The album features seven covers of well known favourites such as Sam Smith’s Lay Me Down, Nina Simone’s Feeling Good and Ellie Goulding’s Your Song. We are also proud to include three original songs written by the trio.

We performed a selection of songs from the album at our launch concert at The Pheasantry on Sunday 8 September 2019.

BRONTË CELLO SUITE

Ian MacGregor is the pianist for the new recording of the Brontë Cello Suite by BB Cooper, released by Artfield Music with cellist Evie Heyde. It is available to buy on iTunes.

Brontë is a musical about the famous story of the Brontë sisters and life at Haworth Parsonage. It is set against the bleakly beautiful landscape of the Yorkshire moors. Music by BB Cooper, Book & Lyrics by Peter Spafford and orchestrations by Mark Warman. The musical was first directed by Marc Urquhart.

In 2015 I worked with BB Cooper to create a new, classical version of the songs, arranged for Cello and Piano. This new album, the Brontë Cello Suite, was released on iTunes in November 2015.

THE ENGLISH ANTHEM - Choir of Magdalen college Oxford

As a choral scholar at Magdalen College, Oxford, Ian recorded a number of albums in the series The English Anthem, conducted by Dr John Harper. The 5 recordings in the series included anthems from 1540-1600, The Seventeenth and Eighteenth Centuries, The Nineteenth Century, The Twentieth Century to 1960, and Modern Anthems since 1960.

MR CINDERS

Ian’s first recording was at Abbey Road studios in 1988 when he played a Steinway concert grand piano in the famous Beatles Studio 2 in a cast recording of Mr Cinders from Highgate School. The recording was produced by John Yap of TER and Jay Records.
